  • 1.  Screening questions in Triage

What are the special things that your ED does to ask SI/HI and trafficking questions in private. Has anyone has an initiative where they are asked while in XR/CT/US/MRI? I think there is a problem with getting the patient alone to ask these questions, especially if the patients visitor is hoovering or being controlling. I don't think it is effective to just ask them to leave because it makes the situation worse so I am trying to think of situations where the patient is alone and doesn't need to be separated in an obvious way. If anyone has ideas or examples of what has worked for your ED in the past I would really appreciate any and all information. You can post it here or if you could e-mail me at susan.m.dupont@gmail.com that would be amazing. Thank you in advance.

We ask in triage if the pt. is alone and if not we ask when we taking them for testing etc. There is NO standard that we have established.  We have stopped asking family to leave triage area as this did not go over well for some family members.
