I have been a Registered Nurse for 48 years and has spent over 46 of those years in the practice of Emergency Nursing. The majority of my clinical practice has been in a Level I Trauma Center and I presently practice nursing at the bedside in a busy community emergency department. I lecture on a variety of topics related to both emergency nursing and nursing in general including CEN Review courses, Triage, Cultural Competence and others. I served as Regional Director of Education for South America for a Third World Humanitarian Medical Mission Group, Project Helping Hands, which serves multiple countries with medical care and educational efforts. With this group, I have prepared a variety of educational products including color books, story books, and flyers, and seminars (both professional and non-professional) in these countries. I also worked part time as a ship nurse for Holland America Cruise Lines. My journalistic endeavors include author, reviewer, and content expert for a variety of venues and Section Editor for International Nursing in the Journal of Emergency Nursing. I am a member of the Academy of Emergency Nursing and was one of the first inductees after its formation in 2005.
