ED Nurse Leaders and Pediatric Emergency Care Coordinators (PECC),
We made great connections with ED nurse leaders at the Council, Chapter and Hospital level in Dallas last week at ENA Leadership Conference. Promoting Pediatric Readiness should be an initiative at every level of emergency nursing from the stretcher-side to the Board Room.
As Council and Chapter leaders, you know that your members are the nurse leaders in most of the hospital EDs in your domain. Promoting Pediatric Readiness and helping PECCs improve pediatric readiness scores, saves children's lives. I am attaching a one-pager with the Top 10 Pediatric Readiness list for ENA Leaders. Please use the top QR code to complete our short survey to tell us what your Council is doing to improve pediatric readiness and how we can help. There are multiple QR codes on this one-pager that will link ENA leaders to resources to help promote Pediatric Readiness and the National Pediatric Readiness Project assessment launching on March 3rd and closing May 31st. Every ED in the country should visit the website on 3/3, and print the assessment pdf, gather their data and come back to the portal to enter it before 5/31. Only one person from each hospital ED can open the assessment portal. This is an ED leader or PECC's role. Here a is link to the assessment's homepage. Please add this to your calendar today. If interested, please contact me for a link to a resource that the ImPACTS group is continually developing to help PECCs concentrate their needed resources in one location. The new 2026 Joint Policy Statement and Technical Report: Pediatric Readiness in the Emergency Department can be found here along with many additional resources. I'm attaching information about what's new in 2026.
Thank you to those who stopped by our booth and put their gold star on our US map indicating a Council level initiative to improve Pediatric Readiness. Your commitment is applauded. If your Council doesn't yet have a state initiative, use the Top 10 list to get started. There are sample Facebook posts that can be added to your state's Facebook page.
Thank you all for what you are doing to improve Pediatric Readiness!
