    Dear Emergency Nurses,

We are two weeks into the National Pediatric Readiness Project Assessment and just under 12% of the nations 5,493 Emergency Departments have responded to the assessment. But, There's lots of time and the final number is what counts! To get started and to see how your state is performing, please visit Pediatric Readiness Assessment - Home Page

ALL 24/7 EDs should take part in the 2026 NPRP Nationwide Assessment! High readiness is associated with as much as 76% reduced mortality risk in pediatric ill or injured patients. Participation helps EDs identify gaps in Pediatric Readiness and is vital to improving outcomes in your community and for all children.

As previously discussed, it is best practice to print the pdf of the assessment first. The link to do that is right there on the left side of the page under "BEFORE YOU BEGIN!"  The deadline for submitting your assessment is MAY 31st!  Take the time to gather your data and accurately complete the assessment.  Your Pediatric Readiness Score is a starting point.  There is no "bad" score when you identify where your gaps are, and begin to address them. Please work with your nurse leaders in the ED and encourage them to complete the assessment.  Offer to help collect the data. It is everyone's responsibility to improve Pediatric Readiness.

"Where a child becomes critically ill or injured, should not determine if they survive!" Sadly, in today's world, that is the case!  Please help us change that!
