Our health system recently hired a PECC nurse who is interested in collaborating with other PECC nurses.  Are there others who would be interested in collaborating?

Florida ENA has partnered with Florida EMSC in the development of our pediatric readiness program. One of the initiatives our Pediatric Readiness committee plans to start this summer is a monthly online call for state PECCs and those interested in taking on the role. Although it will be geared toward our state, you would be welcome to join. What I would LOVE to see, though, is something similar from ENA, in which our states could exchange ideas. I know that Texas and Michigan now have great monthly webinar programs with education but would welcome a virtual place for interaction among those on the ground who are just getting started or who can share their wisdom. If others feel this could be of benefit, I will reach out to national with the request.

I think this is an excellent resource! I would for ENA to help us coordinate a virtual space for PECCS to collaborate.

I would love to build on what Penny has said.  In Texas and Michigan, we have been working through our ENA State Councils with the ImPACTS (Improving Pediatric Acute Care Through Simulation) group to improve Pediatric Readiness in our two states by identifying Regional and Hospital System-based Pediatric Champions to assist our hospitals to be Peds Ready.  They help the hospital ED leaders identify a PECC, do their NPRP assessment and develop a plan of action to close their identified gaps, identify quality metrics to address opportunities for improvement and, facilitate simulation in the ED with hospital staff and physicians to improve  care  We are a little over a year into this project and have shifted our focus to sustaining the work we've accomplished with hospitals to improve Pediatric Readiness.  Our Regional PECCs in Texas, and Mentors in Michigan, have transitioned into a role we call Pediatric Readiness Improvement & Simulation Mentor (PRISM).  We have several available communication networks in place for our PRISMs as well as the hospital PECCs they've been working with.  We have a Zulip Channel where we can share resources and individuals can, ask questions and post their successes, barriers and challenges.  The ImPACTS website at https://impactscollaborative.com was recently updated to include lots of peds ready resources and a community of practice discussion board for PECCs. Anyone is welcome to join the community.  It might serve as a place for states to meet up and make plans to gather together elsewhere or stay in the community of practice.  Please feel free to reach out to Cam Brandt (the3brandts@verizon.net) or me if you have questions.  We are happy to share our successes and challenges as well.

    Hi Heather,

Thank you for introducing me to this board. As mentioned I'm one of the PECC for our system and we are just starting to develop our program. I'm looking for connection so we can exchange ideas on how to improve our pediatric readiness and ultimately the pediatric care...

    Hi Kierston,

Our system (9 hospitals) created 2 PECC position, and we are just starting to develop our roles, establishing a QI committee and having all of our 9 hospitals certified. We would love to cooperate with other PECCs and exchange ideas and tips.

I am the Florida ENA Liaison to Florida Emergency Services for Children. One of our collaborative efforts is helping all Florida EDs with their preparation for Pediatric Readiness. We have a committee now of 26 people who are either PECCs, work in EDs and want to help their areas become more prepared, Pediatric ED nurses and providers, and ENA members interested in knowing more. Our goal is to provide training for PECCs who feel they need more assistance, help them and their facilities obtain the resources they need, and collaborate in running pediatric drills and educational events for staff in any facility that requests it. We will also be available to help when time comes for completing the next round of hospital pediatric readiness surveys.

One of the initiatives we hope to start in a month or so is a monthly online webinar for PECCs to join in and ask questions, share stories and advice, and generally support each other by making connections. We may limit it to Florida at the beginning until we get a feel for the flow but would love to make this an open forum for all to share.

If anyone is going to EN2025, I will be presenting on Thursday late afternoon on Neonatal Emergencies. Not a plug for my session, but letting you know where I will be if anyone wants to meet there after the presentation to exchange contact information.

    Penelope,

I like the idea of a PECC seminar. We are in the process of establishing peds champions in all of our EDs and we want to hear from all to see how to keep the Peds Champs motivated and engaged in making our EDs peds friendly. So, I will be at EN2025 and I would love to connect.

    Hey,

the EMSC website and IMPACTs both have tons of information. I know IMPACTs does have monthly PECC check in zooms where they explore different obstacles of the role.

I am the second PECC that our facility has had, right now it is my primary role. It was a struggle to come from staff RN to office life. I am happy to help answer any questions that you may have. Right now our obstacle and catch up to becoming "pediatric ready verified" is our providers with PALS and CEU's.

    Dear Pediatric Readiness Advocates,

I wanted to share some resources that currently exist for Hospital Pediatric Emergency Care Coordinators to collaborate with your peers.  The ImPACTS website has an ED page where lots of resources are available, but the newest resource is a Community of Practice and discussion Board for PECCs. You will have to share your name and email.

Here is the direct link to the ED page on the ImPACTS website: https://www.impactscollaborative.com/ed

The Texas and Michigan Pediatric Readiness Improvement Project also has a Pediatric Emergency Care Coordinator, regularly scheduled Hospital PECC check-ins at 1pm CDT every 4 weeks on Tuesday.  Here is the link to a .pdf and .png of the PECC check schedule.
Pediatric Emergency Care Coordinator Monthly Check in (1).pdf
Pediatric Emergency Care Coordinator Monthly Check in (2).png

Here is the link to the PECC check-in scheduled for July 15th.  Join from computer or mobile: https://iu.zoom.us/j/88953527896 Meeting...

Attached is the schedule with links to join each check-in for the rest of the year.

Come back tomorrow to see the call for supporters of a resolution being brought to the General Assembly calling for ENA's support of a Designated PECC in Every Emergency Department.  GA25-02.  We would appreciate your support.
