  • Fundraising

At the April State Council Meeting fundraising was discussed at length and after a motion was made (and passed) that no fundraising would be done by any chapter or the state before the June meeting (see draft meeting minutes posted for more info) a question was raised asking if conducting a bake sale where items are donated to be sold was considered fundraising. Our treasurer contacted the Va Dept of Taxation and after a lengthy discussion it was determined that yes, a bake sale where items are donated and sold is in fact a fundraiser so no bake sales are to be held either. As a reminder, all chapters are under the same EIN number as the state and as a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization we are at risk for losing our non-profit status if we don't follow the rules. For more information or questions, feel free to reach out to the State Council Treasurer Alexus Moore at
  • Day on the Hill

Members at the State Council Meeting Friday were made aware that National won’t be giving us additional spots for Day on the Hill this year. However, this does not mean that additional ENA members can’t go and speak with Members of Congress and/or their staff on Capitol Hill. The 3 spots given were to ensure Virginia is included in day 1, which is training provided by ENA. Day 2 (May 22nd) is open to all members who are interested in going and advocating on behalf of Emergency Nurses.

If you are interested, please contact our Government Affairs Chair, Karen Follin, at She will be setting up meetings and will need to know who is going so she can plan accordingly. Please be aware that if you choose to participate in day 2 on May 22nd you will be doing so on your own and no monetary assistance will be provided.
