After much deliberation, the FENA executive board has decided that we will postpone the CLO scheduled for April 2 until we have a better idea of how COVID-19 is going to be affecting us. Many of you have been told by your facilities to not travel, are having to postpone PTO time, or have obligations that will preclude you from attending. Also, the government has asked us to avoid gatherings of more than 10 people and national ENA is encouraging all states to follow CDC guidelines. We do not know when the CLO will be offered, but rest assured that it WILL be offered in some form, even if we use a narrated Power Point in conjunction with a Zoom meeting.
The state council meeting scheduled for April 3 will be held with some changes. We will Zoom the meeting and encourage you to join using that platform. Some have indicated they would still like to attend in person and we are not turning you away. I do need a final count of attendees in order to set up meeting space and order lunch. Delray Medical Center has cancelled our room and I am currently working with the Hilton Garden Inn to obtain meeting space and will update you accordingly.
At this time, we will not be able to offer the Stop the Bleed training as planned. We will offer a class at the July meeting. If there is a change in our ability to have a class sooner, that information will also be sent out. Those who volunteered to teach STB at the NSNA conference should have received an email that the conference has been cancelled.
Finally, I want to share a message state presidents received from ENA President Mike Hastings. I also want to thank you for all you are doing to take care of your communities. This is a scary time for everyone, from those of us in healthcare to the patients we see everyday. I want you to know that FENA is here for you. If there is anything you need in the way of resources or support, please do not hesitate to reach out.
