    Hi everyone

What are children's trauma centers doing for blood administration for emergent or MTP blood in a child under 10kg? Do you have specific "pedi" packs made for these instances or does the blood bank send a full unit and the nurse infuses what is ordered and if there is additional volume required, it is infused from the unit that is already been hung (all presuming done in the 4 hour limit).

    Thank you,

    Hello,
At the Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center I work at, we use the LifeFlow rapid blood and fluid infuser to give PRBC and FFP to patients under 10kg. We use the QinFlow Warrior Lite to warm the products. Per our MTP protocol, our blood bank sends full units of products and we give "doses" (PRBC 20ml/kg, FFP 20ml/kg and Plt 20ml/kg). Delivering the smaller "doses" is easy to do with LifeFlow because it delivers 10ml with each pull of the handle.
