Pediatric Community

Hi Everyone,

Looking to see what other hospitals with separate adult and pediatric emergency departments do for cross training of staff between the two units? We have significant interest in adult nurses training to pediatrics. Do you require they pick up a specific amount of time to maintain competency? Do you train to full competency or a specified lesser acuity "float" assignment? How do you deal with the challenge of giving them appropriate time to train with the need to make their budgeted hours in the other department? Looking for any lessons learned that might be helpful.
