NDENA Policy for the Nurse Excellence Award--ENA North Dakota State Council
Purpose: To recognize emergency nurses who, through their dedication, commitment and integrity, have improved and advanced emergency nursing.
Policy:
1. The awardee will receive $100.00 cash and a miniature plaque for personal display at his/her workplace or home. The award will be presented during Emergency Nurses week.
2. Nomination Criteria:
· The candidate must be a current NDENA member and have been a NDENA member for at least 12 consecutive months.
· The candidate must have consistently demonstrated excellence in his/her practice as evidenced by skill and caring.
· The candidate must have contributed to the development of emergency nursing through mentoring and/or education of fellow members
· The candidate must have actively sought and shared knowledge and skill through formal and informal education.
· The candidate must have exhibited values and behavior that demonstrate a high level of professionalism.
· The candidate must have promoted health through taking an active role in community outreach and education.
3. The call for nominations will begin September 1st, and will be facilitated by the ENA Board of Directors; the ND ENA President will provide the NDENA membership with nomination criteria, application forms, and information about making a nomination. The information will also be posted on the NDENA website. Nomination period will close September 30th.
4. The ND ENA Board of Directors/ Award Committee will select the awardee based on nomination criteria. There shall be at least 4 members on the ND ENA Board of Directors/ Award Committee, who may be an officer, committee member, educator, nursing unit manager, community person, and/or staff nurse. In the event of only 1 nomination, the ND ENA Board of Directors/ Award Committee will review the nomination to assure that the candidate meets the qualifications.
5. The ND ENA Board of Directors will order the miniature plaque.
6. The ND State Council treasurer will provide a check for the monetary award to the recipient.
