Hello, I wanted to ask if your ED in CA allows RNs to administer Propofol IV push? If so for what indications (RSI, Conscious Sedation) The same with Ketamine IV Push. Can your RNs give it IVP it and for what indications?

    Thank you.

    Hi,

I work in pediatrics, but we recently started to allow IV push of ketamine for pain in sickle patients with VOC. We made a protocol and limited to those patients. I know we are possibly looking into expanding the usage for other indications to assist with pain control.

    Hello

So far, we do not allow IVP of either medication at any of the facilities I work at in CA and educate our nurses to ensure that they document "administered by provider" when signing off on the MAR as given.

    Hope that helps!
