When screening for pregnancy before radiology exam, our Rad Techs ask the patient and rely on their "no" answer for exams that don't include the abdomen (for both XR and CT). If the patient was unsure, then a qualitative test would be ordered. For abdomen/pelvis studies only, they require a qualitative negative test.
Do other institutions have similar screening practices? Any that are more strict?
