Dear ENA members,
Happy Easter, Happy Spring, Happy COVID19, Happy, Happy everything right?!? By now we are all aware, this is not a drill! Where did “normal” go? What is “normal” anymore? Is your hospital doing what my hospital is doing? Do you have PPE? Are your volumes low? Is your acuity high? Have we flattened the curve? Are you scared too? Do you have a surge plan? There are many more questions than answers. We are the living guides for the toolkit that will be compiled and published for guidance during the next pandemic. We are the voice of the position statement. I have never been more proud to be a nurse, an emergency nurse. We coordinate the chaos and thrive in this atmosphere. However, we all have limits. Self care has never been more important.
I want each of you to know that during this unprecedented time, you are not alone. I want you to know that your membership in our professional organization offers extraordinary opportunity and benefit to you beyond measure. There is value in networking. There is value in sharing best practices. There is value in being a member; it might just be your knowledge or experience someone else needs to be successful. Teamwork is the hallmark of emergency medicine. We all need each other now more than we ever have. We may be in different trenches but we are fighting the same war. Stay safe.
What would be most helpful for you during this time? Do you have specific questions? Concerns? Needs? Please reach out to your leadership team. We would welcome the opportunity to serve you as the member.
Blessings,
Kristen
