Welcome to the new Virginia ENA website!

Share your name, experience in Emergency Nursing and any other information you feel comfortable sharing with your fellow Virginia ENA Members.

For those of you who don't know, I'm the 2019 VENA Secretary. I've been an Emergency Nurse for 15 years. The first 9 years of my career were spent in the ED, 7 of those at a Sentara Norfolk General, a Level I Trauma Center. Currently (and for the last 6 years) I'm a Flight Nurse for Nightingale Regional Air Ambulance, a helicopter based at Sentara Norfolk General. I've been an ENA member since I became a nurse and have been active at the chapter and state level for the past 5 years. I hope you all enjoy the new website and take advantage of this opportunity for us to share knowledge and communicate with each other here.

    Hey Lisa!
I'm Audrey, I've been a Pediatric Emergency nurse for 7 years at VCU in Richmond. My first nursing love was PICU, where I worked for 5 years, including some travel. Last year I took on a new role as the Clinical Coordinator in my department, and also work closely with the Adult Emergency Department. I absolutely love working for a level 1 trauma center, and we just announced that we will soon begin building a stand alone children's hospital to include the Pediatric ED which is very exciting (and a bit terrifying)!

I've been an ENA member for 3-4 years, but have not attended any local or state meetings....yet. I'd like to change that in 2019!

Hello from another Lisa.  I am Lisa Jamerson and currently live and work in Lynchburg, VA.  I started in the Emergency Department in 1995 as a new graduate nurse.  Pretty early in my nursing career, I became a member of the ENA and learned so much about leadership and professionalism from the local ENA chapter.  I worked in the ED full time for over five years and helped collaborate with hospital administration (Centra) and local politicians to get air medical services to our area.   I started flying with Centra as a Flight Nurse & Medic with MedFlight III in 2001 (transitioned from MedFlight III to Centra One).   I have been flying every since going from full time to limbo status about four years ago.  Now I teach nursing as my full-time job at the University of Lynchburg.  I have always had a passion for teaching both EMS and nursing and have taught ENPC and TNCC for a very long time.   I think it is wonderful for nurses to get outside their departments and see emergency nursing from a broader perspective.  If there is one thing I have appreciated the most from flying it has been seeing the many different types of hospitals and styles of delivery of care.  Our state chapter has an astute membership that is dedicated to attending meetings and supporting the officers, even serving in some of the roles.  The Virginia Emergency Nurses Association is a great place for an Emergency Nurse to collaborate to better their profession and network with colleagues.
Audrey,  I love Peds and when I saw that VCU was getting a peds hospital I screamed with joy inside.  I wish I lived close to a hospital with a PICU.  I hope I get to meet you at a state chapter meeting.   Most, if not all of them, are held in Richmond so they are convenient to your location.
Lisa, it is always great to see your smiling voice at the state meetings.  I am delighted to see you in an officer role.   I know you will continue to do great things.
