At the April State Council Meeting fundraising was discussed at length and after a motion was made (and passed) that no fundraising would be done by any chapter or the state before the June meeting (see draft meeting minutes posted for more info) a question was raised asking if conducting a bake sale where items are donated to be sold was considered fundraising. Our treasurer contacted the Va Dept of Taxation and after a lengthy discussion it was determined that yes, a bake sale where items are donated and sold is in fact a fundraiser so no bake sales are to be held either. As a reminder, all chapters are under the same EIN number as the state and as a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization we are at risk for losing our non-profit status if we don't follow the rules. For more information or questions, feel free to reach out to the State Council Treasurer Alexus Moore at treasurervena@gmail.com. Fundraising will be discussed again at the June State Council Meeting on June 14th. All members are welcome and encouraged to attend!
