    Hello everyone,

The 2025 New York City Babies and Toddlers Trauma Investigations Conference registrations are open for in-person and virtual attendees!

The hosts recognize the key role of Emergency Nurses in detecting and responding to child abuse early!

This year's pre-conference seminar and conference will be held Wednesday November 5, 2025 through Friday November 7, 2005 at the Office of Chief Medical Examiner Hirsch Auditorium, located at 421 East 26th Street in Manhattan, New York City. This year's conference will begin with a half day preconference highlighting speakers involved with the new technical report on Abusive Head Trauma, published by the American Academy of Pediatrics. All day Thursday and Friday morning, our outstanding group of speakers from around the country will discuss various medical diagnoses and legal issues involved in serious injuries and deaths of babies and toddlers. All professionals involved in this multi-disciplinary field - including doctors, lawyers, law enforcement, and children's services advocates - are welcome to attend. Pre-verbal babies and toddlers are more vulnerable to serious/fatal inflicted injury for a variety of physiological, developmental and social reasons than children who can talk and walk. These complexities present significant challenges for the medical and legal investigations involving injuries/deaths in this age group. The Conference will highlight new information and best practices for all those involved in investigating and responding to injuries and fatalities in this vulnerable group.

Groups of ten or more from the same agency should contact Leigh Bishop directly at LBishop@ocme.nyc.gov.
