    Hi, all-

I'm a new ENA member and want to be involved in the local Maryland chapter.

I live in north-east Baltimore, been in healthcare 11 years, and worked as an RN for 6. I went to nursing school at University of Rhode Island. I worked both 911 and interfacility transports as an EMT. Additionally, I trained and evaluated new members to our EMS station's practices and protocols and taught AHA BLS CPR.

I started out as a cardiovascular surgical progressive care RN at JHH and got board certified as a cardiovascular RN. I went to paramedic school while working full time swing shifts (it was a busy year) and connected with Lifeline's nurse manager. I started attending Lifeline's CEs- like Dexter's lab - and finished out my paramedic refresher there. With the goal of joining their flight team, I went over to the MICU where I realized I don't have the ethical stomach for futile care. Lifeline's RN manager stated one of their best flight nurses has a solid ER background so went on a brief sabbatical and came back to join Bayview's ER team.

COVID hit and, for a variety of reasons, I accepted a clinical leadership position at the University of Maryland's Baltimore Convention Center Field Hospital, where I've now been for a year this month. In addition to inpatient care, I am an active member of a Baltimore County fire station where I ride the fire apparatus and staff a paramedic unit. I conducted IRB research exploring the confidence and competence of nursing students with prior healthcare experience. I created and proctored high-risk, low-volume scenarios using URI's College of Pharmacy's high fidelity immersive sim lab.

I am interested in getting involved in nursing policies and politics, as evidenced by my first bachelor's degree being a political science degree from American University. I have an awesome wife and a daffy otterhound dog.

I would like to sign up for this spring's meeting but I don't see anywhere on the website how to do so.

Should anyone have the answer, kindly pass it along.

    Thanks!
