Your help is urgently needed! Some in Georgia are trying to dismantle the certificate of need process. If this happens, for profit facilities will be enticed to our state, setting up opportunity for predatory practices. Commonly, for profit facilities have substantial revenue to open specialty facilities that cater to customer service "fluff" similar to hotel accommodations. At the same time, these facilities have NO obligation to share the burden of uncompensated care and do not have to see patients without insurance. Georgia's House has a bill (HB 198) that, if passed will put many hospitals and other essential resources at risk of becoming insolvent. Please contact your legislators and let them know that Georgia's ENA does not support this legislation. Please find ENA's position statement is attached.
