The authors of GA 25-02 are seeking support for our resolution urging ENA to strengthen its position statement to emphasize the importance of having a nurse PECC in every ED.
Most of the 30 million pediatric patients seen in Emergency Departments (EDs) each year are not seen in children's specialty hospitals. Many EDs lack pediatric-specific resources. A nurse PECC enhances Pediatric Readiness and can help improve Pediatric Readiness scores. A Pediatric Readiness score of >88 can save up to 2,143 children's lives annually.
The complete resolution is attached.
To add your name as a supporter, please reply here or email sallyksnow@gmail.com with your full name, email address, and ENA number by 9:00 pm (ET) on Saturday, July 5 Sunday July 6th at 5pm ET.
Our resolved clauses read as follows:
- Resolved, that ENA should strengthen its position statement to emphasize the designation of a nurse PECC in every ED;
- Resolved, that ENA should advocate for protected time for the PECC based on pediatric volume, and designate or emphasize that the position should be based in the ED; and
- Resolved, that ENA should promote the publication of nurse-led research demonstrating the efficacy of Pediatric Readiness in improving pediatric patient outcomes.
The authors thank you for your support,
Sally Snow (TX), Robin Goodman (CA) Cam Brandt (TX), Barry Hudson (TX), Chelsea Meixner (MI), and Megan Petrucelli (CT)
