Julie,
At this time there is no "certification" for PECCs. That is certainly a dream of many of us involved in Pediatric Readiness for decades. We'll get there one day. There are some great resources for learning the roles and responsibilities of a PECC. The EMSC Innovation and Improvement Center at https://emscimprovement.center is the go-to place for all things pediatric readiness. It can be a little overwhelming if you don't have some direction. The was a PECC Workforce Development Collaborative Project a while back that built some very helpful resources for PECCs. Here is the link to three modules that build on each other. There is a fourth module due out soon and a 5th in the works. https://emscimprovement.center/domains/pecc/pecc-module-ed/
There is also a lot on information on the ImPACTS (Improving Pediatric Acute Care through Simulation) website at www.impactscollaborative.com Click on the ED Tab. We have been working on a Pediatric Readiness Improvement Project with ImPACTS for over a year now through the Texas Emergency Nurses Association. We identified Regional Pediatric Emergency Care Coordinators working within the Texas Trauma System's Trauma Regional Advisory Councils (RACs) to assist hospital PECCs with completion of the NPRP assessment, identifying their gaps in readiness and developing an action plan to close those gaps. Our project also facilitates pediatric emergency care simulation using simbox (www.emergencysimbox.com) in hospital EDs. Texas has adopted new trauma rules that require all 300 Trauma Center EDs to be Peds Ready in order to maintain the trauma designation. I would be happy to tell you about our project if you are interested. Email me at sallyksnow@gmail.com

Is there a specific training/courses to become a PECC Nurse or is this something that just follows the guide from EMSC guidelines as to what a PECC nurse entails and the "title" is granted by the facility?
