  • 1.  ED to In-patient transition orders

    Posted 04-11-2025 09:49 AM

    Hello,

I was wondering what other pedi facilities are doing for transition orders? What is the time frame they are good for? Are they any exclusions? I would appreciate any feedback or insight. Thank you

Do you mean for patients that are still in the ER and are boarded/waiting for inpatient beds?

When we admit a patient, the ED physician puts in what we call transition orders which essentially "hold over" the patient on the floor until the full floor orders are placed by the hospitalist/resident.
