    2023 President Elect-Candice Thompson, MSN

To introduce myself, my name is Candice Thompson and I currently work at Nebraska Medicine in trauma services.  I have been a trauma coordinator for the last 6 years. Prior to my current role I was an ED RN and supervisor for 7.5 years with CHI Health.  I also dabbled in some inpatient nursing at the very beginning of my career.  I am currently a TNCC instructor/course director and as well as teach many other trauma courses.  In the early years of my ED nursing career I was lucky enough to attend a couple national ENA conferences and found that I love what ENA stands for and that we have such a strong and committed professional organization.  This year I was fortunate to co-chair of the Nebraska ENA trauma committee and have really enjoyed working more closely with our Nebraska ENA chapter.  We are currently working on a statewide initiative to increase our state’s access to TNCC courses as well as growing our instructor pool.  The reason I would like to be president-elect is I want to play an active role in growing the profession of emergency and trauma nursing as well as improving patient care locally, at a state level and nationally.  I feel I would be an asset to the Nebraska ENA because of my diverse nursing background and experience (direct patient care, leadership, performance improvement, education) and it would be an honor to serve as our next president-elect.
