2023 Secretary-Amelia Swanson
I graduated with my ADN from Central Community College in Grand Island in 2002, my BSN from UNMC in 2007, and just started pursuing my MSN in the executive track this past fall of 2021 from Nebraska Methodist College. I worked in ICU when I first graduated from nursing school, and then transferred to a house supervisor role four years later. I started as the manager of the ED at CHI Health St. Francis in 2009 and have been there for the last 13 years. In June 2022, I was promoted into the director role of the ED. I love leadership because each day is an adventure and an opportunity to learn something new, impact the life of a patient, or help a team member remember their "why" for being a nurse. I also love to be involved with the ENA and am thrilled to be part of an organization with so many brilliant minds that are all dedicated to ensuring safe patient outcomes and care in the ED. My biggest accomplishment is being able to juggle being a mother, wife, nurse, leader, and student over the last year and still maintaining some sanity, a sense of humor, and the willingness to continue to grow and learn in all areas of my life!
